6 Years

Well another year has come and gone and we celebrated 6 years of marriage on April 22. It seems although that we have not been married for that long. We have learned a lot this past few years and I know we still have a lot more to learn. I know I have been saying this every year, but I really hope this is our year to start our family! Either through adoption or IVF. I love Bear very much and I feel very lucky to have him in my life. He does so much for me and when I sit back and really look at all he does, I can't help but smile and feel so much love for him.

For our anniversary this year, we went up to Big Bear, CA. I got a groupon for a 3 day 2 night stay for $150 so I jumped at the opportunity to buy it. It was not exactly what I thought it was, but we made the most of it and had an enjoyable time. Next time I will do a little more research :)

The first day, we spent the whole day driving to our location. On the GPS, we entered in our destination and couldn't find the exact address so we did what we thought was the closest to where we wanted to go. After stopping at a Burger King to go to the bathroom, Bear decided to call and ask where exactly they were. Well come to find out, we were 130 miles past our spot. At first, we were a little upset but in the end we just laughed about it. Lesson learned, call ahead and print out a mapquest. Don't rely just on GPS. Since we got there pretty late, we ended up just getting a pizza and renting a movie. Here is a picture of where we stayed.

On the 2nd day, was pretty low key. I unfortunately started school that week and I had homework due on Saturday so I spent a few hours getting that done. Bear took a nap while I did that. After I finished that, we went out to lunch and drove around Big Bear to see what it was all about. It is a good sized small town, about 50,000 population and its all up in the mountain. There was not much to do so after we drove around and found nothing to do, we searched for the closest city and drove there. We drove down to Redlands, went to Red Robin for dinner and then we went and walked around the Redland Temple. It was a small Temple so no visitors center but we walked around the grounds and it was very pretty.

On the way back from the Temple had to be one of the scariest moments of my life. When we were on way to Redland, we saw that there was a lot of fog but nothing bad and we were still able to see in front of us as we were driving. I guess we forgot that there was fog because on our way back (it was 10:00 pm) the fog was so thick you could not see 5 feet in front of you. Normally I would not be that scared, but we were going up a mountain for 35 miles and it had some of the worst hairpin turns ever! I am not going to lie, I was having a pretty bad anxiety attack. I thought we were going to fall off the mountain and die (dramatic I know). I had Bear pull over for a few minutes so I could "breath" and he talked some sense into me. Since Bear was driving very cautiously, I said a prayer that we would get to our cabin safely. I am happy to report that we did in fact get there safely and that my anxiety went way down. It took double our time to get to our cabin and I was fine with that. We were going 5 miles an hour...SO SLOW but it was well worth it!

And Sunday we spent the day driving home. We didn't realize that when we booked the trip it was Easter Weekend so when I found that out, I was bummed we were going to miss Easter with both sides of the family. We left earlier than we planned and I am very glad we did. We got home at 6:30 and made it just in time for Easter dinner with my side of the family. Luckily my sister's house was on the way home, otherwise we would not of made it.

It was a very short trip but a well needed one with just Bear and I. We were not able to take the dogs with us. I was sad about it at first, but realized that it was better they did not go. Me and Bear had not gone a trip just the 2 of us since our cruise in 2009 so it was well needed. I was glad to go home and sleep in our bed and have our little doggies back home with us.

I didn't know you went private again, I've been missing your posts! Sounds like you had a nice little trip. I would have been freaking out too! Glad you can laugh about the things that didn't go as planned.
